What is Kagibot?
Kagibot is the web crawler for the Kagi search engine. When a robots.txt has no rule that targets Kagibot but has one that targets Googlebot, Kagibot follows the Googlebot directives.

Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Kagibot/1.0; +https://kagi.com/bot)- How to verify

How often is Kagibot impersonated?
We have not measured requests claiming to be Kagibot yet, so we show no share.
This directory measures requests between 3 July 2026 and 28 September 2026. The fake crawler report covers its own, earlier window (late June to 21 September 2026), so its figures differ from the ones here. Read it for the method.
Have a request that claims to be Kagibot? Check its IP address.
Should you block Kagibot?
- Allow it if
- you want Kagi to crawl your pages for its search engine.
- Block it if
- you do not want Kagi to crawl your pages. A rule for Googlebot also applies to Kagibot unless Kagibot has a rule of its own.
- What blocking changes
- Kagi does not state what a block changes. It says only that it respects rules that target Kagibot.
To block it, add this group to your robots.txt. Kagi says standard robots.txt directives that target Kagibot are respected. With no rule for Kagibot, it follows a rule that targets Googlebot.
User-agent: Kagibot
Disallow: /robots.txt only asks. It does nothing against a client that ignores it or only pretends to be Kagibot. Stopping those takes verification at your edge.
